The Sawmill Gulch Spider Attack

Rolling down Sawmill Gulch, probably going 25 mph and I look up and this thing is hanging in mid-air right in the middle of a super narrow single track trail. I wanted to lock up the brakes on my mountain bike because obviously I was going to hit this thing, but all I could do was scream. Thing hit me right in the chest and I leaped off the bike and started brushing myself off. Then I looked at my arms and legs and was happy to learn that his little monster wasn’t on me. So I walked back up the trail and found him right in the middle of it. A little dazed and confused. I’d smacked him hard with my chest and I figure it was a 50/50 deal of whether he lived or not. I think it’s a pretty cool looking creature and was wondering if any of you could identify it. I’d say it was as big as a quarter, at least, with the legs stretching beyond that. Forest habitat. Let me know.

A better look here.

Underside.

Pretty good size.
