I've had two famous "oil burners" as fishing partners in my lifetime. They've taught me two very important things - patience and fishing humor. I am often guilty of being a tremendous prick while fishing. With these two guys, it became pretty obvious that I was the problem not them. Great friends and now great fishermen and I welcome a chance to spend a day on the river with them, even if they still don't bring their own flies or know how to tie on tippet. They're treasures and have showed me a lot about the pure joy of catching fish and being in the moment. So Leeson might write it well, but I'm on the other side of the fire from him on this. Fly fishing could use a few more oil burners.
