Winter Issue Fly Rod & Reel now available

Just wrapped up Fly Rod & Reel’s winter issue and it should be hitting the newsstand any day. I took over the helm in May and I think this is the best issue I’ve produced. That’s been the trend, in my mind, and as long as I keep that up you’re going to see a magazine that appeals to the eye and the mind. Mainly, what I’m trying to do, is give all of you something fresh and new in each issue, trying to make you say, “Wow, I haven’t read that before” or “Whoa, that’s a cool approach to an old subject.”

You’ll have to check out the mag on your own to know all that’s in it, but here’s a little tease:

Angler of The Year: Author Carl Hiaasen

Kudos Awards: Some sweet produce covered

Winter trout fishing on the Big Lost and other waters

Fresh perspectives on the Bighorn and Gallatin, Mexico and the Bahamas

Ted Leeson takes a look at the newest wave of vests

Ted Williams slaughters Washington state’s insistance to ruin the Elwah River and wipe out what could have been the greatest wild fish recovery in the United States, if not the world.

Chico Fernandez covers fishing deep in the Glades and updates us on how snook are doing after the big freeze a couple years ago.

We also have some fun reads on a new fly called the Thunderdome, a taster’s guide to mayflies, a look at Alaska photog Steve Laurent and a tip of the hat to Orvis for their 10,000 people project.

I think you’ll like this issue even if your one of those anglers who’s been saying, “I’ve read it all before.” Let me know what you think.

Happy Holidays.
