Anglers Tonic Heads to Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula

Thought I would let all of you know that the girls and I are off to Alaska next week, heading for the Kenai Peninsula for whatever The Great Land throws our way. I really haven’t fished the Peninsula in June, only during fall, so I’m not so sure what my opportunities will be. I know there will be kings on the Kasiloff and the Kenai, and I’ll be taking the Deathstar to throw at them, but I’m hoping to find some dollies and reds, too. Would love to get the girls into some reds and after last summer, while fishing with Kent Sullivan, on the Alaska Peninsula, I know how to get those fish to truly eat flies.

Dinner time.

Some of the trip will be taken up with some fun things that Alaska Tourism has set up for us; three days in Seward, hiking on glaciers, checking out the Aquatic Sealife Center, taking a cruise to the Kenai Fjords, visiting a mushing operation where the girls, I think, get a ride on a wheeled sled. I’ll be shooting pics like mad and I really want to head down to Homer at least for an afternoon, which means stopping to fish the Anchor on an incoming tide for kings.

Chowder time.

Also want to hit Clam Gulch and show the girls how to dig razors.

I say all of this to give you a heads-up for next week. Look for posts every day or two. Should be fun for all of us to see the reactions of Tate and Myka in Alaska. Tate’s been there before and wants to move to Alaska. Myka should be equally dazzled.

If any of you know where I should take the girls to catch reds and dollies, give me a shout. Thanks.
