Fin Chasers Carp Classic 2012 ready to roll

Met up with Brooks Montgomery a few days ago at the Orvis Guide Rendezvous in Missoula and he gave me the dirt on Carpapalooza 2012, technically known as the Fin Chasers Carp Classic.

I’m telling you, if you want to meet some cool people and have loads of fun on and off the water, this is a fly-fishing event to be at. Bring on the weather, bring on the carp—you’re going to have a blast, especially if you hook one of those 30-pounders. I’ve told Montgomery that carp don’t eat, but he says they do at Blackfoot Reservoir and for some reason I believe him. Here are some details on the event. Would love to hear from those of you who attend. Shoot some pics and share with Tonic.

Don’t miss out on the fun, the bragging rights, the great prizes and the chance to hook into the biggest, ugliest fish you’ve ever caught on a fly. This event is fly-fishing only tournament and a super fun FUNDRAISER for fly-fishing guides and/or ‘fly industry’ people that are deemed in need of fundraising help for the year.

Fin Chasers Carp Classic 8 (“CARP ATE”) tournament will be held May 18 & 19, 2012 at Blackfoot Reservoir, South East Idaho. A $5.00 per person pancake feed will be held each morning at 8:00 AM (donated by Gary & Leslie Green) at the designated starting area. There will be Raffle Prizesso don’t forget to bring your wallet…. this is a FUNDRAISER.

DON’T FORGET your fly-fishing gear (6, 7, 8 or 9 weights) camping supplies, food, water, beer, ice, whiskey and your IDAHO FISHING LICENSE. This event is in the sticks! When in doubt, bring more ice and more beer.
