Headed to New York for a conference that I look forward to each year, where 50 journalists are invited to meet with Canadian representatives, mostly tourism people, but also private entities including fly-fishing lodge owners.
Last year, as a result of these meetings, I was able to fish at Nimmo Bay Lodge in British Columbia and Camp Bonaventure and Salmon lodges on Quebec’s Gaspe Peninsula.
There are all sorts of options this year and I was wondering if any of you have ideas/suggestions on where I should try to fish. I’m meeting with Newfoundland/Labrador, Saskatchewan, Tofino, British Columbia, Edmonton, Quebec, Yukon, Alberta, Ontario, New Brunswick, and some private entities
from around Canada. Twenty-five options in all. It doesn’t have to allbe fly fishing. I could bring food, drink, music, mountain biking, hiking, cruises, kayaking, etc., into the mix.
Would love to know from your travels where you think I should visit. Maybe there’s even a way to meet up, especially if you’re living in the Canada.
Right now I’m thinking about Atlantic salmon and maybe a moose hunt in Labrador; definitely Atlantic salmon the Gaspe; float trips and city life on the Bow River in Calgary; a train trip on the Rocky Mountaineer from Vancouver to Banff; maybe some sort of pike exploration in Saskatchewan; maybe a surf camp in Tofino; mountain biking in the Yukon; and . . .
What am I missing? I probably can’t do all of those trips, but I’ll try a few.
