Fly Rod & Reel Winter Issue

In December I finished up the Fly Rod & Reel’s winter issue and it should be hitting newsstands right now. You can find it at many locales including Barnes and Noble and local fly shops. I think this one is well worth reading as we, once again, have several great pieces from the best writers in fly fishing, including John Gierach, Ted Leeson, Zach Matthews, Dave Karczynski, Dave Hughes and Chris Santella.

In the winter issue, look for pieces on the Northwest’s wild steelhead, including an entry on British Columbia’s overlooked Kitimat River. In addition, you’ll find pieces on Kelly Galloup’s go-to winter trout flies, and fishing musky when the air temperature rates 10-below. We also offer gear choices for those trying to built value trout, mid-range salt, or high-end salmon and steelhead kits. We also cover new books with Seth Norman, and Dave Hughes tells us why some trout like big dry flies skated over the surface when they should be eating tiny dries and nymphs. There’s a load more but those are the highlights. Make sure you check it out and let me know what you think. I’m always trying to build a better magazine and I can’t do that unless I know what you like. Thanks. GT
